Samaritan Hospital, the anchor of Samaritan Regional Health System (SRHS) is a general, acute-care, inpatient facility that was given to the city of Ashland in 1912 by Jesse Lewis and Mary Clark. The Clark's envisioned "a hospital where no sick person would ever be refused care," and since that time, Samaritan Hospital, Ashland County's only hospital, has been fulfilling that mission.

Samaritan Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) for meeting nationally recognized healthcare standards. In 1995, Samaritan Hospital became the first organization of its kind to earn the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Star Award for an outstanding health and safety program.

With 110 licensed beds and 60 staffed beds, Samaritan Hospital is the largest facility within SRHS.
