Service & Visiting Hours

We respect your need to be there for your loved ones during their hospitalization and while they recover. We have established visiting hours for our patients so they will also have time for rest and relaxation, as well as medical care, tests and treatments.

Please discuss special visiting needs and schedules with the patient's nurse at any time.

  •  The father or designated significant other may visit at any time.
  •  Other visitors are restricted to the post-partum unit, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  •  Open visiting is permitted from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a limit of two visitors per room.

Procedure areas
  •  There are no visiting hours in the procedure areas of the Hospital, such as the cardiac catheterization lab, surgery, endoscopy suite, etc. A waiting area is provided for visitors. Family members are permitted pre/post procedure in the holding area.


The Gift Shop at Samaritan Hospital

Our beautiful, newly remodeled Gift Shop is located in the Hospital Lobby for your convenience. Hours of operation are: Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Fridays 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

If you would like to place an order by phone, we would be happy to assist you. For a special touch, our caring volunteers will hand deliver your gift to any patient at Samaritan Hospital. We can be reached at 419-289-0491, ext. 3296.


Sam's Café

Sam's Café, conveniently located right off of the Main Lobby, entices visitors with an array of delicious options, from our inviting, hot entrees to our Chef Specials of the day. Menu selections are posted daily on our hotline, which is (419) 289-0491, ext. 3417. Snacks, soups and beverages are available all day, and vending machines are located in the Emergency Department and in Sam's Cafe as well.

Hours for Monday - Friday:

Breakfast, 6:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Lunch, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Dinner, from 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Hours for Saturday and Sunday:
(Closed for service 3 - 5:30 p.m. on WEEKENDS ONLY)

Breakfast, 7 a.m. - 9 a.m.
Lunch, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Dinner, from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

If you would like to dine with a patient, we make every effort to serve consistent meals throughout the day. Please keep in mind that patient testing or other factors may prevent this from happening, but breakfast is typically served at 8 a.m.; lunch at noon; and dinner at 5 p.m. We encourage you to dine with your loved one.

Samaritan Pharmacy

Patients love the convenience of filling their prescription at the hospital before even leaving, but what about the public? Well, they love it too! Since the retail pharmacy is located off of the Hospital's Lobby, Samaritan Pharmacy is easily accessible, and it is open every day of the year. And, for even faster service, patrons can call Samaritan Pharmacy direct at 419-289-9636 or 419-289-0491, ext.2471.

Samaritan Pharmacy's prescriptions and over-the-counter medications are competitively priced with area retail pharmacies, and we offer a 7% cash discount! Golden Buckeye discounts are accepted too, with presentation of your card.

Our friendly and highly skilled pharmacists are always available for individual, private counseling at your request. Their hours of operation are:

  • 8:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday - Friday
  • 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday - Sunday and Holidays

QCare

Samaritan's newest quick care clinic has been embraced by the community as a less expensive alternative to Emergency Department treatment. Located in the Hillcrest Medical Office Building, adjacent to Samaritan Hospital, QCare treats patients 12 months and older Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. While no appointment is necessary, you may call QCare with any questions at 419-207-2502. Remember, QCare is a clinic offering treatment of minor ailments and injuries, and is not meant to replace the important relationship you should reserve for your family physician.


Imaging Services at Samaritan

Samaritan's imaging services performs diagnostic imaging everyday, 24 hours a day. The department performs inpatient X-rays, CT scans during set times for outpatients and 24 hours a day for those admitted to the emergency department. They perform MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and mammography services during set times Monday through Friday or by emergency call for certain services.

Samaritan also offers imaging services on an outpatient basis, by physician referral, at several other facilities:

  • Kettering-Samaritan Health Center is located in beautiful Loudonville, Ohio and is offers general radiographic and screening mammography services Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, please call our friendly staff at 419-994-4121.
  • Samaritan Women's Health Services is located on the second floor of the beautiful new Samaritan Professional Park, 2212 Mifflin Avenue. Screening mammography and bone density exams are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a brief closure from noon - 1 p.m. They can be reached at 419-207-9272.
  • T.W. Miller Imaging Suite offers limited, general radiographic exams Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. These services are housed in the same Suite as Samaritan Women's Health Services at 2212 Mifflin Avenue, phone 419-207-9272. 
  • Samaritan Medical Office Building is located behind the Samaritan Health and Rehabilitation Center at 1941 South Baney Road. Limited general radiographic exams are available Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, please call 419-289-0491, ext. 3872.
  • Samaritan Extremity MRI Service is located at Mid Ohio Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine at 45 Amberwood Parkway in Ashland. Extremity MRIs are frequently used to identify problems of the bones and joints, including arthritis, cartilage or bone marrow problems, torn ligaments or tendons, and bone tumors. Extremity MRIs take detailed images of the elbow to wrist or the knee to foot. Upon a physician’s referral, appointments can be made at 419-289-0491.

Samaritan Laboratory Services

The laboratory department of SRHS provides services for inpatients, outpatients, and emergency department. All services are available at Samaritan Hospital for all age groups, with a blood draw lab located just off the main lobby. Limited outpatient services are available at off-site facilities:

  • Samaritan Medical Office Building is located behind the Samaritan Health and Rehabilitation Center at 1941 South Baney Road. It is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 - 3 p.m. Wednesday hours are from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. For more information, please call 419-289-0491, ext. 3872. 
  • Ashland Medical Center is located in the Samaritan Professional Park at 2212 Mifflin Avenue, offering general laboratory services Monday, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Friday, 7:30 a.m. - noon. Our caring staff can be reached at 419-289-0491, ext. 3518.


Accessing Medical Records

Medical Records are available in our Health Information Management Department, or HIM. All record requests, with the exception of x-ray films, will be fulfilled through HIM. This includes medical records from lab and cardiopulmonary. Patients needing access to x-ray films should report to the Radiology Department.

HIM is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. After hour requests should be directed to the volunteers at the Reception Desk in the hospital’s Main Lobby.

To find HIM, access the elevator in the Lobby of the Emergency Department Waiting Room. Take the elevator to the Basement. Once there, turn right and then make a left. There, you will find a window with a friendly member of our team ready to assist you!

For more information, please call 419-207-2552. Medical Records are copied for your convenience at a fee of $2.70 a page for up to 10 pages, .55 a page for up to 50 pages and .20 a page above 50 pages. The charge only applies when copying Medical Records for the patient or an attorney. Medical records older than three years will incur a search fee of $16.75.

Patient Financial Services

At Samaritan Regional Health System, we realize no one plans for healthcare expenses related to unexpected hospital stays or visits. That's why our highly qualified and compassionate staff is available to assist you with all of your questions.

Our Cashier's Office is located by the elevators in Samaritan Hospital's Main Lobby. If you would like to pay your hospital bill in person, you may do so Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For your convenience, a secured box is available to pay your bills after hours. Please note we offer a prompt payment discount if your balance due is received within 30 days of our initial billing.

We also have Financial Counselors available to assist you at 1-800-257-9917, ext. 3962 or 419-207-7878. Or, you may visit a Financial Counselor Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The Financial Counselors office is located near the elevators in the hospital's Main Lobby.

In addition, with the recent expansion of our Emergency Department, we now offer onsite financial counseling to Emergency Department patients everyday between the hours of 7 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. They can be reached at 419-207-2520.
