SRHS Awards Scholarships to Local Residents

ASHLAND - Samaritan Regional Health System, Ashland's leading healthcare provider, recently awarded $10,000 in scholarships to local residents.

The Ohio State University student Emily Moss of Polk was the recipient of the $1,000 Yeater Scholarship. This scholarship is designated for use by a graduating high school senior accepted into an accredited nursing program, working toward an RN degree.

Melanic Bowling, from Jeromesville, will apply her $1,000 Clem Scholarship to her studies at Mount Vernon Nazarene College School of Nursing. The Clem scholarship is awarded to those currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program, working toward an RN degree.

The $1,000 Miller Scholarship, which is open to a student accepted into, or currently enrolled in accredited courses leading to a degree in an allied medical field, was awarded to Holly Potts of Rochester, Ohio. She is a student at the University of Toledo.

Med Central College of Nursing student Luke Biddle of Ashland was awarded the Goard/Grady Scholarship. This scholarship is available to students who are accepted into, or currently enrolled in an accredited program of nursing or allied medical study.

Ashland's Christina Coffy and Jeromesville's Rhonda Mowry were the recipients of the $3,000 Elizabeth Myers Mitchell scholarships. Established in 2008 by Samaritan Hospital Foundation and Ashland University, these scholarships are designated for healthcare professionals employed in Ashland County and/or individuals planning a career in healthcare. Recipients of this scholarship must be enrolled at Ashland University.

Scholarships are awarded annually, based on funding. Applications are reviewed in April, with winners notified in May.
