ASHLAND - Drs. Mehrdad Tavallaee and Faranak Zarrabi of Mid Ohio Internal Medicine were recently recognized for obtaining Gold Star status with Unison Health Plan in 2008.
Gold Star status is a special achievement reserved for Unison providers who meet nationally recognized standards of care, and follow guidelines that are adapted through a task force or physician committee.
"The service we provided to our patients last year was measured by a set of clinical indicators, such as routine preventive care and health management," explained Linda Fozio, Mid Ohio Internal Medicine practice manager. "We're honored to have earned Unison's highest designation of quality standards."
The physicians and their staff, whose office is located at the corner of 42 and Baney Road, were awarded a plaque and a monetary donation of over $2,500 by Unison, a public sector health plan.
As an additional benefit, Gold Star providers are relieved of some paperwork, by expediting procedures and testing that require pre-approval.
"That's Unison's way to award physicians who provide quality care to its members," Fozio said.
Unison Health Plan services Delaware, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Washington, D.C.
