Volunteer Services

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center! Following is some general information about our Volunteer Program.

You must be at least 18 years old to volunteer.

Volunteer Service Areas

Chaplains - The volunteer chaplains visit inpatients during the weekend. Volunteer chaplains also assist in emergency or disaster situations.

Emergency Department - These volunteers work in the Emergency Department, running errands and assisting staff as needed.

Gift Shop - Volunteers assist customers shopping in our boutique-like store. Be comfortable with exchanging money, running a cash register and using a credit card machine. Training will be provided.

Messengers - The messenger volunteers distribute mail throughout UH Samaritan Medical Center on weekday mornings. This position involves a lot of walking.

Reception Desk - These volunteers are stationed at the Information Desk and should keep themselves well-informed of hospital services. They provide inpatient room numbers to visitors and give directions. The use of a computer is required and basic computer knowledge is preferred.

Second Floor - Second Floor volunteers provide direction and assistance for surgery patients and visiting families. They run errands for staff as needed.

Special Service - These volunteers help as office assistants and are also available for special events or activities.
