ICU

You can also visit our online library for more information on At the Hospital: For Visitors.

Our ICU is located on the second floor of Samaritan Hospital, 1025 Center Street in Ashland. The visiting hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a limit of two visitors per room. We have established these general guidelines for our patients to encourage rest and relaxation, as well as accommodate medical care, tests and treatments.

However, because we respect your need to be there for your loved one, you are welcome to discuss special visiting needs with a nurse at any time. We also ask that you check with staff before bringing young children for visits. ICU staff can be reached at 419-289-0491, ext. 2536 or 3258.

We understand the deep concern you feel over a loved one's hospitalization. Please be assured that our highly skilled staff is dedicated to our patient's well-being and health, providing comprehensive service from our medical care, to the cleanliness of our rooms.

And, since 2006, we have capitalized on the increasingly popular Hospitalist program. A Hospitalist is a board certified physician dedicated to the treatment of hospitalized patients. The admitting physician will still play a key role in the patient's hospitalization, routinely consulting with the Hospitalist throughout the stay. But the patient's condition will be monitored by the Hospitalist, as well as the subsequent care.

This exclusive inpatient focus allows hospitalists to devote more time, attention and energy to addressing individual inpatient needs and concerns. Hospitalists provide frequent consultation with families, and have the added advantage of being on-site to provide care.

For out-of-town family and friends, please know our patients appreciate a cheerful get well card, a thoughtful phone call, or lovely bouquet of flowers* just as much as a visit. Our volunteers deliver mail to patient rooms daily, as well as deliver fresh flowers as soon as they arrive. The Gift Shop at Samaritan Hospital has a wide variety of floral arrangements and gifts. Additionally, special requests are commonly filled for a thoughtful, unique touch. Please call The Gift Shop at 419-289-0491, ext. 3296 for more information.

*Please note that we discourage flowers for patients experiencing respiratory difficulty, as the flowers may aggravate the condition.

Any follow up care that is required upon discharge will be coordinated through our Social Services Department. To speak with one of our dedicated social workers, please contact the Social Services Department at 419-289-0491.
