SRHS Respiratory Care Recognized in National Program

Samaritan Regional Health System (SRHS) has earned Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) under a national program started in 2003 by the American Association for Respiratory Care. 2011 marks the fifth consecutive year SRHS has been honored with this recognition.

About 700 hospitals out of 5,000 hospitals in the United States have been named a Quality Respiratory Care institute. SRHS earned the QRCR designation by adhering to a strict set of criteria governing respiratory care services that ensures patient safety.

“The citizens in your community are lucky to have a facility such as yours, in which they can be assured of receiving the highest standards of respiratory care,” Sherry Milligan, Associate Executive Director of the American Association for Respiratory Care, said of SRHS.

Respiratory services at SRHS are provided 24 hours a day and delivered by professionals working under physician’s orders, several criteria for obtaining QRCR. These professionals are respiratory therapists, specially trained to provide a wide range of breathing treatments and other services to people with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, AIDS, and other lung or lung-related conditions. Respiratory therapists at SRHS are key members of lifesaving response teams charged with handling medical emergencies.
