“Safety Today Ensures a Tomorrow”
At SRHS, we value the safety of everyone who enters our facilities, from our employees and volunteers, to our patients and visitors. And our diligence to safety was recognized by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA). In 1995, we became the first hospital ever to earn OSHA's prestigious Star Site status through their Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).
VPP's Star Program identifies workplaces with comprehensive, successful safety and health management systems. According to OSHA, the average VPP worksite has a lost workday incidence rate at least 50% below the average of its industry.
Realizing our great responsibility as a pioneer in the Star Program, we serve as knowledgeable mentors to other businesses seeking improved safety standards. We helped Frito Lay out of Wooster, Ohio realize their dream of Star Site status. This well known company visited our hospital to see safety processes first hand, and also received on-site assessment which provided invaluable feedback.
