Charitable Legacy
As a not-for-profit organization, SRHS's income is reinvested in the System, directly impacting the health of the community. The dollars earned allow SRHS to provide state-of-the-art facilities with equally advanced technology and equipment, which in turn leads to the recruitment and retention of the top notch physicians and employees the community has come to expect from SRHS. More importantly, our financial viability leads to the fulfillment of our founder's dream of "a hospital where no sick person would ever be refused care."
But our compassion doesn't stop there. Patients, especially those suffering from acute illnesses or disease, become extensions of our family. Maybe that's why so many of our employees participate in fundraising events sponsored by national organizations. They proudly accept the tremendous responsibility and time commitment of raising both money and awareness of these debilitating diseases that affect all our lives in one way or another.
In fact, in 2008 our Outpatient Clinic staff was honored for their overwhelming dedication to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event. Not only did this eleven women team raise over $15,500, they were recognized with a plaque for raising the most money by a team and also for selling the most luminaries.
And what other health care organization has an innovative Annual Giving Club that is funded solely by employee contributions? That's right! SRHS employees care so much for the vitality of our organization, that a core group of dedicated employees founded the STAR CLUB in 2004.
Standing for Samaritans Together Achieving Results Celebrating Life Unity Betterment, the 209 active STAR CLUB members have contributed, to date, $163,000 to SRHS. In addition, 32 employees have received just under $12,500 in assistance through the H.E.L.P. program, which stands for Helping Employees Lives Prosper. H.E.L.P. funds are available to employees facing a hardship or experiencing a tragedy, and pays for gas bills, electric bills, medical expenses, benefits, house payments, funeral expenses and more.
So you see, we seem different from all of the big city health care organizations because we ARE different. We are your friends...your neighbors...your family...your caregivers - wrapped in an all inclusive package topped with the beauty that only comes from the inside out.
